Containing the former library of traditional music enthusiast Richard Butler,
Hexham Border Library has provided FARNE with a fantastic range of material. The library itself is housed in the historic Moothall which dates back to the 14th century and was the building from where the Archbishop of York’s bailiff controlled the area known as Hexhamshire. FARNE has drawn on a wide range of resources from the library including everything from the tunebooks of local Northumberland pipers to song books from across the region.
