Waltz

An example of a waltz from the early 19th century John Bell manuscript<p>
An example of a waltz from the early 19th century John Bell manuscript

The waltz is written in 3/4 time and has a strong 'um-pa-pa' feel. It can also be spelt 'valse' and in older manuscripts can be written in 3/8 time.

On this recording, we hear George Hepple playing 'Warks Burn Waltz', a tune composed by Robert Whinham.
