George Hepple (Photograph: private collection - Johnny Handle) |
George Hepple lived at Haltwhistle, close to the Cumbrian border. A very fine musician, of wide experience, George's grandfather learnt to clog dance from the influential 19thC musician and dancing master, Robert Whinham. This direct link back through 150 years of traditional music making is apparant in the skillful way in which George plays the fiddle.
On this recording, we hear George Hepple playing
Sheffield Hornpipe, Shipley's Hornpipe, Liddell's Hornpipe and
Miss Thompson's Hornpipe.
