Old songs for new times: the contemporary relevance of traditional songs
This programme is a sound recording of a lecture given by Sandra Kerr, singer/songwriter and lecturer on the degree in Folk and Traditional Music at the University of Newcastle. The lecture was first delivered as part of the University of Newcastle Public lecture programme on Tuesday, 24th February 2004, 5.30pm in the Curtis Auditorium, Herschel Building at the University of Newcastle. The lecture is illustrated with many musical examples sung and played by Sandra Kerr. Students from the degree course also perform with Sandra and appear in a number of solo, duo, trio and group items.
